Facts about hockey recruiting

If a NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT is signed it is binding on the college or university, not a coach or team. It is binding for only one college academic year. The NLI in itself does not guarantee an athlete a place on the team or playing time. There is also a college hockey recruiting timeline when colleges can talk to student athletes and how often guidelines that must be followed. If you want to play Division I or II athletics as a freshman, you have to register and be certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Hockey Camps

There are many great hockey camps out there and I believe you can benefit from going when your of the right age. I have been asked by many parents which camps are you sending yours kids to. My question back to them was what are you looking to get out of the camps and how old is your child. Sending a your child to a camp when he or she is a mite or squirt age can be fun but how much is your child going to benefit from the camp. Most camps are during the summer during the off season. So how much are they going to remember when the season starts. It is sort of like when your work sends you off on a seminar and you may learn a few thing from it. Unless you put it to use right away most likely you will go back to your old habits. When sending your older kids I believe they remember the camps better and it also gets there name out there. Since many of the camps are run by college coaches.
